After the rip is repaired

The rip has been repaired on the back with raw linen and then the front fissure was filled with a special putty and in-painted.

Slipcase Repair for Daniel Webster

A slipcase for The Devil and Daniel Webster has been worn out. Had to remove the rotted edge board and lift the paper in order to replace with a strong mulberry paper and layer with original paper. In the second image you see the slipcase right after the watercolor has been applied.

1845 Bible Rebound

This is what we call a tightback, the leather was glued directly to the spine. Though a good technique, you can see the vertical lines on the spine where the binding has cracked the spine. The major line is actually where the Old and New Testaments converge. It’s there that the Family Record was found.
